East U21 Championship

On Saturday last the u21s started their campaign away against Cappamore. In what was a very up and down performance the lads came away with a draw 1-13 each. In the first half we played with a strong breeze and had the majority of the play but didn’t punish Cappamore on the scoreboard and sure enough the home side struck for a fairly fortunate goal. The boys stuck to the task and with points from David Hickey and a few frees from Gavan Ryan they trailed by two at the break 1-7 to 0-8. After the strong teamtalk the lads stormed into it and had all the play but indiscipline cost them with Cappamore getting a lot of scoreable frees. The game was slipping away with time almost up and trailing by three Aaron Kennedy struck with a low drive from a free to rescue a share of the spoils. Best on the day were Jack Nicholas, Eoin Bourke, David Hickey and Brian Timmons.
