On Sunday evening last our Intermediate Hurlers took to the field in the Second round of the Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship against Effin. The boys were striving to follow on from the great victory in the first round and they duly did coming out victorious on a score of Murroe Boher 0-20 Effin 0-12.
In a game that was played in near perfect conditions in Bruff our boys got into their stride quickly with Mikey Ryan in blistering form popping over three first half points ably assisted in the scoring from the Tobin brothers Seanie and Pat. The platform for the scores came from out the field where Dylan Sheehan and Seamus Hickey were dominating and young Barry Cusack giving a great display in the half back line to give us a score at half time of Murroe Boher 0-11 Effin 0-5
The second half started well for Effin as they made some inroads into the deficit but our lads settled again and with Captain Pat Tobin inspired with three second half points and Jack Casey scoring a beauty they played out time to win on a score of Murroe Boher 0-20 Effin 0-12
It is on to Hospital for the next round this Saturday evening versus Blackrock which should be a tough encounter minus the services of Pat Tobin who picked up a late red card in the Effin clash.
