East Junior A League

Rounds 2 & 3 took place over the past week in the East Junior A League with games against both Caherline and Ahane. On both occasions our lads came out the wrong side of the result coming up against very strong sides. In the first game v Caherline played in Boher our lads started well but Caherline started to get into their stride and frees from Gavan Ryan and points from Pat Walsh and Chris McKenna just about kept the team in touch at half time Murroe Boher 0-8 Caherline 1-13. After some home truths at the break the performance was a lot better with some battling qualities on show and a good goal from Daithi Clohessy and another three points from Gavan Ryan gave the score line a better look at the final whistle Murroe Boher 1-11 Caherline 1-21 . All in all Caherline would be considered to be a real contender for honours this season so the boys know the standard they need to reach to be competitive. Team: Colin Brouder, Kevin Boyle, Steven Casey, Eoin Fitzpatrick, Dan Ryan, Andrew Hickey, Willie Walsh, Kieran O Brien, John Richardson, Pat Walsh, Gavan Ryan, Andrew Walsh, Chris Mc Kenna, Declan Kett, Steven Coughlan. Round 3 took place in Ahane against the locals and on a good evening for hurling the result didn’t fall the way of our lads when they lost out on a score of Ahane 2-16 Murroe Boher 0-8. It was a game that started off well but eventually Ahane got to grips and they started to pick off the scores after having some very poor wides. Darragh Ryan was playing well in the corner and picked off a  lovely score in the first half while out the field Chris McKenna and Evan Walsh were impressive. Half time  Ahane 1-8 Murroe Boher 0-6. The second half started well for our lads with a quick point from Darragh Ryan but it was down hill after that as Ahane pulled away to win convincingly in the end on a score of 2-16 to 0-8.
