Brian Butler Cup

On Sunday evening our Junior Hurlers took to the field in Boher to take on Ballybricken/ Bohermore in the Brian Butler Cup and came out victorious on a score of Murroe Boher 4-7 Ballybricken 1-14. The victory was all the sweeter considering the amount of injuries in the Junior camp at present.

Our lads played against the breeze in the first half in what was a low scoring half with scores hard to come by for both teams. The highlight of the half had to be the rasping goal from William Mc Namara who gave the opposition goalkeeper no chance. The goal gave us a great chance going into the second half with the wind behind us HT Murroe Boher 1-3 Ballybricken 0-6.

The second half was a lively affair with scores coming more freely as both teams started to get tired. Ballybricken started to find gaps and were picking off a few scores but goals from Andrew Walsh and a second from Willie Mc kept the lads in the hunt for the spoils. In the last few mins Ballybricken struck for a goal giving Colin Brouder no chance after a bullet strike. As we reached the hour mark the decisive goal came from Declan Kett as he fired home after rejoining the action after leaving with an earlier injury. As mentioned it was a great one to win considering the bad luck with injuries and so the winning run continues
