Senior County League

On Saturday evening last Kilmallock were the visitors to Boher in the latest round of the County League and left with the points on this occasion on a scoreline of Kilmallock 2-20 Murroe Boher 1-18.The condition on the night were dry but there was a strong breeze blowing down the pitch which our lads had the benefit of in the first half. As was mentioned the breeze was strong and our lads took advantage with some great scores especially from Seanie Tobin and the impressive Jack Casey who caught some great ball and managed to pick off two points in the first half. Kilmallock though kept the scoreboard ticking over themselves when they managed to bag themselves two goals. The goals would have been disappointing for the defence who were coping very well but any lapses of concentration will be punished by a strong team like Kilmallock. The highlight of the half was a fantastic long range score from a free from goalkeeper Willie Tobin. The score at the break Kilmallock 2-6 Murroe Boher 0-10.

The second half started well for our boys after strong words at half time and Kevin Tobin was impressing in the middle. Pat Walsh who was positioned  at full forward banged over our first score of the half but Kilmallock favoured now by the breeze were creating lots of chances and always kept that gap over our lads. Pat Tobin was on the pitch now after a injury lay off and looked to be in flying form as he contributed three great scores in the second half . Darren Dunlea was another player who upped his game in the second half and slotted home a fine goal to close the gap to the Balbec boys but alas it was to no avail as Kilmallock hit the last three scores to run out winners by five points Kilmallock 2-20 Murroe Boher 1-18. Our lads showed a lot of heart which they will need in abundance when they face Ahane in the County Championship next Sunday in Caherconlish which we hope will be supported by a big crowd from the parish.
