On Friday last the Senior Hurlers of Murroe Boher took on Doon in the semi final of the East Championship in Caherconlish and in good conditions for hurling Doon came out victorious on a scoreline of 2-20 to Murroe Boher 0-18. The game started off at blistering pace and scores were being slotted over by both teams, Paudie Mc Namara was the man to open the scoring for Murroe but unfortunately for Paudie he was to hobble off with injury soon after. Seanie Tobin was in good form from frees and from play and was assisted by points from Aaron Kennedy and Cillian Byrnes. Doon were probably having the better of the play and had they converted some of their wasted opportunities would have built a bigger lead coming up to the break , Doon 0-13 Murroe Boher 0-10
In the second half Doon struck early to kill the game with two goals coming close to each other with William Tobin not having a chance with either effort. The game was probably over as a contest after the goals but the Murroe Boher lads kept plugging away with a fine effort from Kevin Tobin followed by four points from brother Seanie keeping our lads in touch but Doon seemed to be able to up it anytime our lads got close. As the game was coming to a close Karl Cusack popped over a great point followed by a super score from the impressive Aaron Kennedy. The game will stand to the Murroe Boher lads as there was a lot of young players on show who are only getting use to life at senior level.
