The u14 s travelled to Newtownshandrum to take the locals on in a challenge game and in perfect conditions put up a fantastic performance against a very strong physical Cork side. Our lads started off slowly and found them under pressure from the off, the Cork boys popped over some lovely scores and showed themselves to be a well drilled side and we trailed by a big margin at half time. The team talk at the break certainly had a huge effect on the lads as they steamed into the game and gave the locals something to think about with David Hickey and Sean Quigley dominating the centre Jack Nicholas and Michael Dunlea at centre back and full back respectively keeping their opponents very quiet. As the half wore on the lead was being whittled away and with a few poacher goals from Jack O Carroll Newtown were in sight but the clock was the enemy and the game ended Newtownshandrum 2-15 Murroe Boher 3-8 . All the lads showed a lot of bottle when thing were against them at half time all this will put them in good stead for the championship that starts in the next few weeks.
