East Championship

On Sunday the 15th of February Murroe Boher took on Ahane in the quarter final of the East Championship in a very windy Boher. The boys got off to a great start against the breeze with Darragh Kennedy in great form in the corner tapping over three of Murroe Bohers  first four points with Mikey Ryan getting the other score. The defence were very solid  with Joe Keays and Brian Timmons showing up well in the full back line. The teams went in level at half time with a score line of 0-7 Points each which showed the huge effort the lads showed against the elements.  The second half started well for the lads playing with the strong breeze and they tacked on a few quick scores with points  from Pat Tobin and Darren Dunlea and grew a lead over Ahane. The play was stopped for a period with injury to Seamus Hickey which thankfully turned out not to be too serious but still necessitated his substitution. Seanie Tobin entered the fray in the second half to get more game time after his return from injury and rattled over three points from frees which sealed the fate of Ahane in this East Championship tie where Murroe Boher move on to a Semi Final Date with Doon in the coming weeks.
