Murroe Boher Ladies reach 1st ever Munster Football Final

Murroe Bohers ladies footballers produced their best performance of the year to date when comprehensively defeating Waterford Champions St Pats in Cahir last Saturday to advance to a 1st ever Munster final for the Club. Murroe/Boher laid out their intentions straight from the throw in with a fine point after 20 seconds by Megan O Meara. Alannagh Russell quickly added a 2nd before Dede Fahey got St Pats of the mark with a good score. Grainne Regan and Niamh Richardson added points for Murroe Boher before St Pats got their 2nd from a free after 13 minutes. A fine intercept by Saoirse Barry in the full back line was a catalyst for a length of the pitch move culminating with Lisa Leonard rifling the ball to the back of the St Pats net for a great goal. This score inspired Murroe Boher who quickly added 2 more goals through Claire Keating and Alannagh Russell before St Pats got their 3rd point on the 27th minute and then a 4th on the 29th minute. Murroe Boher however upped the ante and in the last couple of minutes of the half added 1-02 with a goal from Grainne Regan and points from Claire Keating and Lisa Leonard to leave the half time score 4-07 to 0-04. St Pats began the 2nd half in determined fashion and quickly added 2 points from Katie Hickey and a close in free. This was quickly cancelled out by 2 fine Lisa Leonard points who gave an exhibition of football throughout. Claire Keating and Lisa Leonard again added points before Alannagh Russell Megan O Meara and Shauna Ryan all contributed to the score sheet to extend Murroe Bohers position. St Pats added a 7th point from a free before Aimee O Brien scored the final 2 points of the match for Murroe Boher and ease the club into their 1st ever Munster Final.

A fine squad display with the defence particularly outstanding restricting St Pats to only 3 scores from play over 60 minutes.
