2014 Seamus Coffey Perpetual Cup U16 Hurling Blitz run by Clonoulty Rossmore Bord na nOg.

Murroe Boher  took part in 6 Team tournament last Saturday 21st June on a very warm and sunny day in Clonoulty Rossmore. M/B played Danesfort of Kilkenny in our opening match. We started very brightly and with the aid of a breeze were 8pts to no score up at half time. The highlight of the first half was the display of Darragh Carroll at midfield, using the ball very intelligently to create scoring opportunities for our forwards. He also chipped in with a delightful side line cut. Danesfort started the second half with a quick goal and 2 points. M/B responded well with a couple of points. Both teams fought hard for scores with M/B winning out on a 1-11 to 2-3 score line. Our backs put in a great effort to hold on for this win. We had good performances from Brian Timmons, Barry Cusack, and Liam Cunningham. Jack Casey was our main danger man in attack.

Next up for the boys was Blackrock of Cork. We played against the breeze in the first half of this match and found it tough going. We struggled to get scores, while the Rockies scored 1-04 to our 0-2 at the break. The second half was very different with Cillian Brynes springing into life scoring 1-03 after being moved into corner forward. M/B had turned a five point deficit around to a 3 point lead going into the final minute of play. The Rockies responded with a goal of their own when we turned over ball in our own half under pressure from Blackrock and we were punished in clinical fashion. This score was to be vital for Blackrock who knew they had to beat Danesfort by more than 5 points to progress to the A final, in their final match. We had good performances from Brian Timmons and John Richardson in defence, and Cillian Byrnes and Jack Casey in attack. Final score M/B 1-9 Blackrock 2-6

Blackrock managed to beat Dansfort by 7 points in their last match to qualify for the A final and this result qualified us for the Plate final where were to meet Cappoquin of Waterford.

The earlier matches had taken its toll on our players and we found it very hard to get into our stride against Capoquinn. We played against the breeze in the first half and were 0-6 to 0-4 pts down at half time. We played more direct hurling with Jack Casey scoring all four points from play.On the changeover we traded score for score with Cappoquin but we were unable to close the margin between the teams. We had good performances from Brian Timmons, Barry Cusack and John Richardson in defence. Finn Hourigan and Aaron Kennedy were helped in attack by Jack Casey

The final score was M/B 0-10 Cappoquin 0-12
