Murroe Boher minor hurlers played St Michaels on Saturday last in Mungret.
It was the semi final of the City/ East division and both teams played for a spot in the County Semi Final A Championship.
The lined out as follows Jack Casey, Brian Timmins, David Quigley, Dylan Ryan, Finn Hourigan, Conor Byrnes, Kevin Clohessy, Darragh Kennedy, Dylan Sheehan, Karl Cusack, Michael Dee, Killian Byrnes, Eoin Hourigan, Conor Bartley, Aaron Kennedy and subs Ross Kennedy, John Ryan, Brian O Reilly, John Coughlan and Shane Mulcahy .
The team playing with the wind in the first half got off to a great start with points from Conor Bartley and Kevin Clohessy (free) and a great goal from Eoin Hourigan, before St Michaels registered their first of the 3 points they scored in the first half.
Murroe Boher went on to dominate possession and Aaron Kennedy was put through on goal with a great pass from Darragh Kennedy only to see his shot saved on the line. Michael Dee put over a great ball from open play and this was added to by Kevin Clohessy who converted a free and 65 before Aaron Kennedy finished off the half with a point from play.
What proved to be the game changer occurred just on the stroke of half time when Jack Casey saved on the Line and cleared the ball to safety, a goal at this stage for St Michaels would have raised their team moral and it was Murroe Boher who went in the more positive team leading on a score of 1-6 to 0-3.
The second half proved to be an altogether different game with St Michaels brining on some fresh legs they went on to score the next 3 points before K Clohessy converted a free from 60 yards into the wind ,this was to prove our only score in the second half .
Murroe Boher players worked hard especially our 6 backs, Brian Timmins showed some very skill full close in touches to clear any danger, David Quigley had one of his best days at full back and handled all comers, Dylan Ryan was very safe, while Finn won some great pick outs and Conor and Kevin really showed great will power to hold out most attacks, Darragh Kennedy came back into a defensive roll and took some great long range frees to clear any danger.
Dylan and Karl shared duties at mid field and worked hard in a battle with their opposite number, Killian Byrnes lifted his game in the second half and was a constant presence on the 40, while M Dee put in a strong effort working across the half forward line, Conor Bartley having contributed well with point and always a danger when breaking ball for his corner forwards, while Aaron Kennedy with a good point from play a miss and a goal chance saved will have learned from the experience.
All players and subs did the club proud and have earned the right to go forward to a county semi final on merit, hard work and ability, they are growing as a team with every game and starting to work together as a Team.
Result Murroe Boher 1-7 st Michaels 0-8.
