Girls Gaelic Football. U-16 girls advance to County Final

Murroe Boher Girls Gaelic Football.
Murroe/Boher entertained St Ailbes in the County A U-16 Semi Final on Thursday and following a superb game Murroe/Boher advanced to our 1st ever A County Final at this age level with a 3-11 to 3-06 victory.
Murroe Boher started well and by half time led 2-07 to 1-02. Goals by Amy O Brien and Lisa Leonard set the foundation and some excellent points from play and frees by Grainne Regan ensured an 8 point lead at half time. St Ailbes rallied in the 2nd half and reduced the deficit to a single point with 10 minutes to play. However 3 points in succession by Alannah Russell and another Lisa Leonard goal and a pointed free ensured a 5 point winning margin for a delighted Murroe/Boher team. Aoife Barry in goals produced a “woman of the match” performance making some outstanding saves including a penalty save. Aisling Regan in Midfield was excellent but it was the overall team performance that impressed. We would like to wish Anna Ryan and Niamh Holmes a quick recovery from injuries sustained during the game.
The girls advance to the county final where they will play either Mungret or St Bridgets.
